The Archetype of Pisces: March 4th, 2019 Transits

March 04, 2019

On the day of March 4th, 2019, the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune are all in Pisces.

This magical and misunderstood sign is bound to bring us reminders of our mystic capacities and creative potential. The fluid and mutable sign is strong in its ruling planet Neptune; a placement that will last until 2025. This influence will be overarching in our lives, as outer planets such as Neptune move slowly through the Zodiac. We may not feel it's day-to-day impact, but it's presence is still there.

The fostering of our creativity, imagination, and psychological sensitivity will be the main focus of these transits. On a collective level, people are awakening to their emotional selves and plunging into the depths of their psyches for the purpose of healing. The veil between the self and others, life and death make it easier to traverse through these plains. As the final sign of the Zodiac, Pisces severs the boundary between beginning and end. It's longing to return to the source of life is connected to the desire to understand its journey in relation to something grander.

As a water sign, Pisces' depth reaches to the bottom of the ocean. Mythological aquatic cities like Atlantis are Piscean in nature, as they reflect our intrigue of mystery and magic. The lifeforms that dwell in complete darkness around the sea's surface are composed of light to illuminate their surroundings. Mermaids are otherwordly creatures that embody the imaginative spirit of Pisces.

Symbolized by two fish mirroring one another, this representation of Pisces bears semblance to the Taijitu, or the Yin-yang. Like the Taoist symbol that represents the ebb and flow of the Universe, the energy of Pisces embodies the eternal reflections of complimentary opposites. Ruling planet Neptune rests in the 12th house of the Zodiac wheel, serving as the bridge between life and death.

Each house can be interpreted as a time period of a human’s life, from the birth of the self in the 1st house to the solidification of long-term partnerships in the 7th house. Some astrologers believe the 12th house represents the final years of our life; when we become more comfortable with the mysticism of death. Others believe it speaks of our experiences in the womb; a dark and watery place of creation.

Either way, Pisces and Neptune maintain a shroud of uncertainty. It is an energy that refuses to exist in containment and without its duality. Just as the Yin-yang of the universe is easy to observe by watching the sky shift from night to day, its complex balance of extremities cannot be separated from one another.

Pisces is not just one fish swimming through a sea of ambiguity, but two forming a continuous circle. The archetype represents balance between abstraction and concrete, physical and philosophical, intellectual and spiritual. We can see the true nature of Neptune’s influence in the nebulous reflection of our face in a moving stream. It’s only a representation of something deeper than surface level. Before we can catch its meaning in our hands, its shape shifts. Transforms as quickly as it becomes.

With the Sun currently in Pisces until March 20th, a hazy cloud covers the brilliancy of the Sun. Our motivations are turned inward, as we learn to mediate the desires of our subconscious and ego. Our perceptions of our strength and creativity will be Piscean in nature; we pride ourselves in our services towards others, our commitment to justice, and our expression of our feelings.

Mercury stations retrograde on March 5th, 2019 until March 28th. Pisces will be at the 29th degree when this happens, a degree traditionally understood to be a catalytic in astrology.  It's likely this period of time will serve as a turning point. What we learn from now until the end of the month will push us further down our soul's true paths. The effects of this may not be obvious, or even represented in a physical way. It's more likely they'll be felt, in an intangible way that's impossible to translate into words.

A conjunction between Mercury and Chiron is likely to illuminate the power that language can have on our emotions. It can manifest negatively, such as people using words to hurt and abuse someone. Or it can reveal the healing power that listening and honest communication can have on our relationships.

As Mercury retrograde is felt by the majority of the population since it affects our conscious minds, day-to-day tasks and plans, technology, and communication, the buzzword tends to incite panic and chaos. This transit is a bit chaotic, but it is a necessary reset in order to gain valuable perspective on our daily lives.

Since this planet will be in Pisces during its retrograde period, I recommend developing your ability listen and empathize. Be wary of overwhelming yourself with other people's baggage, or even getting lost in your own. Our natural processes of reason and logic will be clouded by Neptune's influence, complicating our decision-making process. Try to avoid the temptation to blur your sense of reality with drugs and alcohol, as it's likely to deepen denial of certain truths you may need to recognize. Our healing and growth depends on the melding of our subconscious soul with our conscious mind. The union of both fishes. The harmony of Yin-yang.
