The New Moon arrives on August 30th, 2019 at 6:37am EST to bless us with some much-needed Virgo energy. Virgo is ruled by the planet of communication Mercury, meaning our minds are racing a mile a minute. Words come off as extra sharp, and our minds might veer on the side of cynicism. It's not because we think the world is inherently negative; we see flaws in order to fix them.
Virgos are symbolized by the archetype of the Virgin, which symbolizes purity and divine service. Set aside the patriarchial fetishization of the term and see it as an emblem of unadulterated energy. You're handed a lump of clay, raw in form. Virgo energy molds it into something beautiful, which requires attention and precision.
New Moons are the beginning of the Moon's monthly cycle. They occur when the Moon and Sun are in the same sign and are followed up by the Full Moon two weeks later. New Moons are a fruitful time to imagine, plan, and plant the seeds of potential.
The New Moon will conjunct with the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Those are some pretty powerful aspects, so don't be surprised if you spontaneously decide to rearrange all your furniture or color-coordinate your Google calendar. This transit provides an excellent opportunity to work on projects, responsibilities, or tasks you need to get done. If you've been neglecting certain things because they feel tedious or boring, you can channel this sign's hardworking energy and check-off your to-do list. (It's always a satisfying feeling, but will feel extra gratifying these next two weeks).
Since Virgo is ruled by Mercury, and therefore, always mercurious, your ritual this New Moon should be heavy with verbal and written affirmation. I suggest writing down what you want to manifest on a piece of paper and placing it on your altar with objects, stones, and/or candles that strengthen your intentions. Keep it until the Full Moon in Pisces on September 14, 2019 so you can reflect on your progress.
Make it list format ~obviously~ because Virgos are an Earth sign and they thrive with carefully articulated points. Since Earth signs are concerned with the material world, affirmations that focus on tangible goals are recommended. But they can also be emotional, spiritual, and metaphysical.
Here are some example affirmations that you can use as a template in your spell for the Virgo New Moon:
Beyoncé, the infamous Virgo, is emblematic of her Sun sign's spirit. She's a perfectionist who's always striving to improve her skills. Nothing is released without her stamp of approval, and everything is flawlessly articulated and produced. She inspires people to be the most excellent versions of themselves.
Even though words are practically magic during this transit, you also have to act on them. You can't expect financial stability if you don't actively seek job opportunities to make this happen. Luckily, Virgo is as practical as it is dreamy, giving you abundant vitality to produce tangible results. If you're struggling with this, it's important to reflect on what's holding you back. Ask yourself: What's getting in the way of my success?
Since Virgos are hyper-critical, this energy can easily be directed at yourself or loved ones; you might catch yourself reaffirming negative thought patterns. Hold yourself accountable! This is a form of self-care, and a tactic that creates beautiful results. Confronting feelings of inadequacy, shame, and imperfection and analyzing where they come from is difficult, but necessary in order to live your best life.
Stay mercurious, as always, my witches. I hope many New Moon blessings come your way!
