Mercury in Sagittarius // November 3rd, 2018
November 03, 2018
As Mercury moves into firey and expansive Sagittarius, we experience a shift in the way we think and communicate. When Mercury was in Scorpio, our intuition was responsible for deciphering true meaning. Articulation depended on emotional sensitivity. Small talk felt tedious, as Scorpio is more intrigued by what lies beneath the surface of language. But with Sagittarius swaying our conversations and thought processes, speaking becomes grander and more open-ended. Truth-seeking becomes philosophical, maybe even vague. It's because Sagittarius is interested in expanding horizons, whereas Scorpio prefers a needle pin approach.
With Jupiter influencing Mercury, we're more likely to use speaking, writing, communicating, and learning as a way to expand our interior and exterior perceptions. It's an excellent time to learn new languages, or revisit old studies. We may be feeling more direct and blunt, as opposed to a more tactful, Scorpio approach. Speaking without filter tends to be a Sagittarius blessing or curse, depending on how you see it. And since this sign is mutable and ruled by fire, we might not be particularly attached to everything we say. Even when speaking with conviction, or referencing belief systems that we're strongly connected to, we may not always follow through with what we say. Small details get lost in the grandiose mind of a Sagittarian-influenced Mercury.
But while we may be a little flakey and flexible, Mercury is passing through Scorpio's natal 8th house. Even though planets like Mercury and Venus are moving out of Scorpio, it doesn't mean the work begun by the powerful sign ends. The cosmos are entering a new phase of the process, one that involves application and contemplation of the emotional turmoil we may have just experienced (or are still experiencing). It's important to balance Sagittarius exteriorizing energy with Scorpio's internal exploration. I recommend manifestation spells, but only for circumstances that align with your personal truth. Any detachment or disassociation from our soul's needs and values will result in chaos.
